Wales have announced plans to create two professional 'super clubs' which could eventually join an expanded English Premier 15s league.

At the moment, Wales does not have a professional structure with elite players encouraged to play for clubs in England.

But the Welsh Rugby Union has proposed creating two performance centres in Wales which could then be turned into professional teams and wants to work more closely with the English clubs.

WRU women and girls general manager Charlotte Wathan said: "We know we have talented players in Wales and we believe these measures will help to further harness that talent and create an environment which increases competition for places in the programme."
