The Football Association has announced just one person tested positive for coronavirus out of 802 samples in the first week of testing on Women's Super League and Championship sides.

Although the FA has kept the individual's identity anonymous along with their club, it will be a relief for the WSL to have had only a single positive test as they push for the season to start on the first weekend in September.

Some clubs have already returned to pre-season training and testing is set to increase in the next week.

There were concerns the new season would have to be further postponed without adequate testing in place but the Premier League stepped in to provide £1million funding for the screening project.
