Team GB athletes free to "take the knee" at Tokyo Olympics

British athletes will be allowed to demonstrate their support for the Black Lives Matters movement at the rearranged Tokyo Olympics next year.

"We would absolutely support athletes in whatever way they collectively choose to support Black Lives Matter," said Team GB chef de mission Mark England.

"What is important is that British athletes have the opportunity to feed into what they feel is a right and appropriate way to express that support."

The British Olympic Association will consult with athletes before reporting back to the International Olympic Committee, who has yet to decide its response.
