Daly dedicates Dash cup win to "special team" after difficult days in Houston

England star Rachel Daly made up for a 'difficult five years' at the Houston Dash in the National Women's Soccer League after helping the side to a 2-0 victory in the Challenge Cup final against Chicago Red Stars.

The Lioness set up the second goal and has been one of the form players in the pre-season event, with three goals and two assists.

Dash recovered from two defeats in the group stage to progress to the final. Daly now hopes the cup win can lead to a breakthrough season for the Texan side, who have never qualified for the NWSL's end-of-season play-offs since joining the league in 2014.

"We're such a special team this year. These girls are special people - absolutely phenomenal," the striker said. "It wasn't luck, it wasn't fluke. We showed up and we believed."

Daly also called the victory, "A massive honour for me and my family."
