Lizzy Banks wins Stage 4 at the Giro Rosa

Britain's Lizzy Banks was a winner on the Giro Rosa for the second year in a row, claiming victory on Stage 4. Dutch rider Annemiek van Vleuten, seeking a third successive title, retained her overall lead.

Banks told BBC Sport: "My stage win last year was amazing because it was my first professional win, and it was really quite a different feeling because I'd never won a big bike race before and I've not had another win since then.

"This one, I'd already tasted victory and I really knew that I just had to win. I couldn't let the team down and come second so I really gave everything on the final bit. It's a different feeling, but it's also just the same and I'm really delighted."

She has also been selected to ride both the road race and time trial for Team GB at the UCI Road World Championships from 24-27 September.
