Record-breaking Chelsea return to the top of the WSL

Chelsea set a new Women's Super League record of 32 matches unbeaten, a run stretching back to January 2019, with a 4-0 victory against Aston Villa.

The result lifted the Blues back to the top of the table above Manchester United, having beaten the previous best run without defeat set by Manchester City between 2015 and 2017.

Goals from Sam Kerr, Beth England, Pernille Harder and Magdalena Eriksson provided an eighth-straight victory for Chelsea.

"Together we have made some special memories," said head coach Emma Hayes. "This team will go down in history, I'm certain of it.

"I know when you're winning a lot there's just this expectation you're going to keep doing it, but this is the best Chelsea team I've ever had."
