Leicester City win promotion to the Women's Super League

Leicester City have won the Women's Championship for the first time, justifying the investment from the owners of the Foxes men's team earlier in the season to turn the club fully professional.

A 2-0 victory against London City Lionesses confirmed the title and a place in the Women's Super League next season. Leicester have won 15 of their 18 fixtures so far this season, losing just once.

Who will replace City in the Championship is still to be decided. Aston Villa are currently bottom of the WSL but Bristol City, West Ham and Birmingham City remain vulnerable.
