Team GB women make pool history

Britain's women broke a 94-year drought by taking the European 4x100m freestyle relay title for the first time since the inaugural competition in 1927.

The quartet of Lucy Hope, Anna Hopkin, Abbie Wood and Freya Anderson held off the challenge of a strong Dutch team to win in a British record of three minutes 34.17 seconds.

"To win my first senior medal and set a new record is just amazing," Wood said. The result was within the Olympic qualifying time and is likely to see the team be entered in Tokyo this summer.

"I love the extra pressure and hopefully we've made the selectors happy," Anderson said.

Hopkin added: "I don't think we expected gold, but it's an amazing feeling."

Meanwhile, Aimee Willmott claimed silver in the 400m individual medley final.
