There are certain occasions in the life of an international sportswoman that have the potential to create legends.

Tonight is the next step for Sarina Wiegman and her England team, as they take on Spain in the quarter-final of the Women’s Euro 22 championships.

Despite defeat to Germany in the group stages, Spain qualified for the last eight with performances packed with passing patience and poise. England, on the other hand and foot, played with fabulous attacking flair, scoring 14 goals and conceding none in their three group games.

The match in Brighton will kick-off at 8pm and full coverage is live on BBC One.

All the way across a very large pond, Dina-Asher Smith has qualified for the 200m final at the Athletics World Championships in Oregon. Dina ran a great time of 21.96 in the semi-final and will be hoping for at least one place better than her fourth in the 100m final.
