Barclays WSL 2025-26 fixtures released
The Barclays Women’s Super League (BWSL) and BWSL2 seasons will kick off on the weekend of 5-7th September, coinciding with an international break for the men’s game.
The opening weekend throws up some tasty ties, including a Merseyside derby with Liverpool at home to Everton. Reigning BWSL Champions Chelsea will play Manchester City while newly promoted London City Lionesses face UEFA Women’s Champions League holders Arsenal.
The forthcoming season is a special one, with the potential for three clubs to win promotion from the BWSL2 as the BWSL will expand to 14 clubs for 2026-27. Included is a new play-off between the team that finishes bottom of the BWSL and the third placed BWSL2 club for a spot in the top division.
It also marks a significant new era for the broadcast of the WSL as well. tThe start of a new five-year broadcast deal with BBC Sport and Sky Sports will provide coverage of every BWSL match. All BWSL2 matches will be available to watch live on YouTube, which means that for the first time, fans can watch every match from the top two tiers of women’s professional football in England live.
The EURO 2025 success of the Lionesses means that interest in the women's game is likely to be reaching new heights in the coming season so it's an exciting time to be a fan of women's football in England.
