The Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) season kicks off on 24th October with the first of 16 rounds, two semi-finals and a final to find out who will be crowned champions of England.

Nine clubs will compete for the title, with reigning champions Gloucester Hartpury looking to make it four-in-a-row after defeating Saracens in last season’s final.

The Women’s Premiership was established in 1990 and was replaced in 2023 by Premiership Women’s Rugby with a ten-year strategy for women’s rugby in England. As part of that strategy the new, nine-team, Premiership Women's Rugby league was launched as a partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and the clubs.

Highlights of the first eight games before the 2025 Christmas break in the forthcoming season include:

  • Gloucester Hartpury and Saracens meet again in round one of the new season, with last year’s defeated finalists looking for revenge as they travel to Gloucester’s Kingsholm stadium on Sunday 26th October.  Fresh from the World Cup, a plethora of international talent will be on display for both teams, including Red Roses stars Zoe Aldcroft, Mo Hunt, Marlie Packer and Zoe Harrison.
  • Round four of the season will see a revival of a key clash from last season. Exeter Chiefs’ loss to Harlequins ended their play-off hopes with the Quins reaching the play-offs in their place. The Chiefs will be looking for revenge on home turf on 16th November.
  • Round eight brings the Bristol Bears to the Allianz Stadium on 20th December, where they will meet Harlequins for one of the biggest clashes of the season. This fixture in the last round before the Christmas break will see a big crowd, with last season’s encounter drawing 18,055 fans, a world record attendance for a women's club rugby match.
