Glasgow City will be able to take part in their Women's Champions League quarter-final against Wolfsburg following a donation from businessman James Anderson to pay for travel and testing costs.

The Scottish Women's Premier League team were struggling to find funding for the trip to Spain to play the tie on 21 August after UEFA decided all competing teams would have to travel in chartered planes.

Manager Laura Montgomery told BBC Scotland: "The stark reality is if James hadn't come forward then I don't know how we could ever have played this game.

"He is now taking care of testing and our means to travel, because Uefa want teams to go on their own plane. It was the most amazing news lwhen he told me he would cover that. He is an incredibly generous man."
