Transfer News: Everton sign "one of the best defenders in Europe"

Everton have completed the signing of Denmark international Rikki Sevecke, with manager Willie Kirk confident he can turn her into 'one of the best centre-backs in Europe'.

The defender has swapped France for the Women's Super League after her contract at FC Fleury 91 expired.

Kirk watched Sevecke in action for Denmark in the Algarve Cup shortly before lockdown. "She is already a very talented defender," he said.

"I firmly believe that if she continues to develop, she can be one of the best centre-backs in Europe in the next few seasons."

Sevecke is Everton's fourth signing of the summer, joining fellow Dane Nicoline Sorensen, Norway international Moe Wold and England Under 21 star Poppy Pattinson at the club.
