West Indies show strength for England tour

Following confirmation they will replace South Africa as England's opponents for a limited-overs series in September, the West Indies have announced a strong squad for the tour.

Only one player, Anisa Mohammed, declined to tour due to fears over Covid-19 and the 18-woman party will feature 14 of those selected for the ICC T20 World Cup earlier this year.

The Windies will play five T20 internationals at the bio-secure County Ground in Derby from 21-30 September.

Both South Africa and India were due to tour England this summer but both sides were forced to withdraw because of the global pandemic.

"We're all still adapting and will need to continue to adapt to the sporting landscape left by Covid-19," ECB managing director of women's cricket Clare Connor said.

"That does not mean we will give any less focus to the women's and girls' game and we're totally committed to continuing our ambitions in that area."
