Last ball winner for England's women cricketers
England’s women cricketers ended their IT Vitality T20 series against India the 3-2 losers, but the hosts served up a nail-biting finale to the last clash at Edgbaston.
With six runs required from the final over, Tammy Beaumont was dismissed in the first ball of the over. Two balls later, with five from four needed, Amy Jones was dismissed thanks to a brilliant diving catch from India’s Radha Yadav.
And so it went down to the final ball with one run required, and it fell to Sophie Eccleston to grab the winning single. She stabbed the ball away and had the Indian fielder’s throw been on target the game would have gone to a Super Over. But the throw was wide and England celebrated a win by the narrowest of margins.
