With no actual fixtures scheduled until a trip to Germany in October, England manager Phil Neville wanted to bring a competitive edge to the Lionesses' St.George's Park training camp.

A full 90-minute training match between an England 'Home' XI against an 'Away' team managed to achieve just that.

Ellen White - captain of the Home team - led by example, scoring twice in the first half before Ella Toone made it 3-0 early in the second half.

There was only one major concern for Neville, who was forced to withdraw Arsenal's Leah Williamson from the match as a precaution.

It was a particularly enjoyable evening for Fran Kirby, who was featuring in an England squad for the first time since being diagnosed with a heart condition in November 2019.

Kirby was named Player of The Match and loved being back on the pitch for the Lionesses: "It's been a tough journey but I always knew I was going to work as hard as I can to get back into this team.

"That's been my big goal these last few months, just every day trying to be the best version of myself. Then if I am, I'll be the best player on the pitch for me team."
