Women's FA Cup: holders Manchester City beat Arsenal to reach the final

The 2019 Women's FA Cup winners Manchester City are though to this year's final where they will play Everton thanks to a 2-1 victory over Arsenal in the semi-finals.

It was an impressive performance from City against an Arsenal side who have been rampant in the league so far this season.

Lionesses star Steph Houghton gave City the lead midway through the first half before Jordan Nobbs levelled for the Gunners with a stunning strike.

City were ahead once more before the break, USA midfielder Sam Mewis scoring what proved to be the winner.

Gareth Taylor, the City boss, said: "We played really well in the first half and I was really impressed with the performance and it could arguably have been a bigger lead going into half-time.

"Arsenal had a real good go in the second half and it was fairly tight at the end but we came through. It's good to be going back to Wembley, the girls really deserve it but we don't have time to stop with the WSL and the Continental Cup next week."
