Hayes hails below-best Blues in title decider

Chelsea remained in charge of their own destiny after holding Manchester City to a 2-2 draw to stay two points clear at the top of the Women's Super League with two games to play.

Victory for City would have seen the sides swap places at the top going into the final weeks of the season but the Blues were able to control the match, despite not being anywhere near their best.

What does the Super League mean for women's football?

It could so easily have been overlooked. A throwaway line, or so it appeared, in the new European Super League's press statement released late on Sunday night.

"As soon as practicable after the start of the men’s competition, a corresponding women’s league will also be launched, helping to advance and develop the women’s game."
