Chelsea leave it late to knock Man City out of the Conti Cup

Chelsea needed an 89th-minute goal to force extra time against Manchester City in their Continental Cup quarter-final before going on to win 4-2.

Melanie Leupolz had given the holders an early lead only for City to respond to move 2-1 ahead.

It took a special strike from Niamh Charles to level the scores and extend the tie into extra time.

The Blues went on to dominate the additional period, progressing thanks to goals from substitutes Guro Reiten and Sophie Ingle.

Chelsea will face either West Ham or Durham in the semi-finals whilst Leicester City take on Bristol City in the other last four tie.
