England win warm-up match in New Zealand

England won their first 50-over match for more than a year with a 20-run victory against a New Zealand XI in the opening game of their limited-overs tour in Queensland.

The tourists made 299 for nine in their innings, with a knock of 75 from Nat Sciver the highlight.

Getting used to playing again for the first time since a Twenty20 series against the West Indies in September, England's bowlers struggled to adjust to the format at times.

However, despite Lauren Dowd scoring 97, the invitational side rarely looked close to overtaking the target.

England are due to play three one-day internationals followed by three T20 games against New Zealand, starting on 23 February.
