Manchester City defender Lucy Bronze has been named as the FIFA Women's Player of the Year at the annual Best Awards. The England star beat Chelsea's world-record signing Pernille Harder and Wendie Renard of France to the award.

Brazil withdraw from 2023 Women's World Cup race

Brazil have withdrawn their bid to host the 2023 Women's World Cup.

The country, which staged the men's tournament in 2016, will instead support the bid of fellow South Americans, Colombia.

Japan and a joint bid from Australia and New Zealand are the other contenders. FIFA will make a final decision on who will host the tournament on 25 June.
